In my perception, the methodology used by the author to provide this research study is based on several studies supporting the implementation of a quantitative research. Due to the fact he backup his investigation on numerous studies by many researchers that have been provided during the past, more than 30 years examining the academic achievement of the home-educated population. But also, he conducted a testing services around the United States, to compared scores of previous studies, to the new statistic result obtained by the study test.

 

o What was the motivation of the project?

The project changed from being a practice of few mainstream American families, to be a viable educational option, because it offers the opportunity for parents to teach child at home by providing religious or moral instruction, transmit values, beliefs, and worldview. But also to customize or individualize the education of each child, and they accomplish better academically result than in conventional schools.

o What are the key research questions and how were they investigated?

All around the article there were some question that let the investigation flow to the point of study:

  • What might educators learn about Homeschooling method?
  • What are the learner outcomes related to this form of schooling that is often not at all regulated by the state?
  • What about socialization?
  • Why is Homeschooling not supported by the education system?

home-based education system in particular has awaken the interest of the public and researchers. educators for example may realize that the efficient result of homeschooling study is based on the homeschool African American family learner outcomes that performed as well as or better than the national average of public school students. academic achievement in the same way is one of the standardized tests, that student can perform to prove their abilities and knowledge.

o Is this a quantitative or qualitative research?

This is a “quantitative research” since the author support his investigation and study through a surveys, test level, and previous data that supply a concrete statistic result of the hypothesis and finally provide conclusion of the case of study being investigated.
